Living Amidst the Crisis of Pandemic COVID-19

Several countries around the world including Nepal, India, South Africa, Spain are in lockdown now to prevent the spread of Corona virus. More than twenty three lakhs people are infected with Corona virus worldwide and suffering from COVID-19 disease and more than one lakh sixty thousand people have lost their lives due to COVID-19. The lives of millions of people are being severely affected due to this pandemic COVID-19. More than two hundred ten countries have the infected cases of corona virus all around the world. Countries have put a ban on global travel to prevent the spread of corona virus.

People are locked up in their homes due to this lockdown. Schools, colleges, institutions, companies, shopping complexes, malls, and restaurants are shut down in several parts of the world to prevent the public gatherings and to control the spread of Corona virus. This pandemic has affected global economy also. Millions of people have lost their employment due to this pandemic. China’s virus-hit economy has shrunk for the first time in decades.

It has been a hard time for the mankind to live amidst this crisis of this pandemic COVID-19 as people are losing jobs , being locked up at homes and staying in quarantine confined at homes. The daily wage workers have faced one of the hardest hits due to this pandemic as they have lost their jobs and do not have any source of income. Lakhs of families are broken as they are losing their loved ones due to this pandemic COVID-19.

Till date there is no any vaccine and specific medicine for COVID-19 so prevention from this disease is very significant in the present time. So, the lockdowns and home quarantines have been very effective in controlling the spread of corona virus. So, social distancing should be maintained and government’s orders for lockdown should be sincerely followed.

This pandemic has also caused fear, loneliness and anxiety among people. So it is very important to take care of our mental health also during this time of crisis. It’s important to share how we are feeling from inside with our family members and trusted ones to prevent anxiety. We can spend our time by reading books, listening to music, watching movies, spending time with our family members. We should eat nutritious diet to strengthen our immunity. We should do regular exercises to stay fit and relieve our stress. We should only follow reliable and authentic information sources such as WHO, UNICEF about COVID-19 to avoid rumours . We should realize that we are not alone in this instead we all are in this crisis together. We should take all the preventive measures like washing our hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer containing at least sixty percent alcohol for more than twenty seconds, maintaining social distancing of at least two metres, following government’s orders of lockdown. We should follow respiratory etiquettes like covering our mouth and nose while sneezing and coughing with mask or tissue or flexed elbow. It’s a difficult time for all of us so, global solidarity is required to win the battle against this pandemic.
